ART

Working with voice, text, sound, performance, film, & technology O’Flynn’s body of work defies conventional classification. Her work lives at the intersection of fine art, performance & pop culture, whether on the stage of a music festival or in the confines of a fine art gallery, under a motorway flyover or on a UNESCO world heritage site, O’Flynn pushes the boundaries of creativity, leaving her indelible mark on the contemporary art landscape. She is currently studying for her PhD at the Royal College of Art, London, the world's most influential postgraduate institution of art and design.

 

PERFORMANCE

Gaynor has performed at festivals, galleries, theatres, happenings & venues globally to formal art fairs, her diverse body of work eludes classification and resists physical or metaphorical confinement. She currently holds the record for the most performances in one Glastonbury, 22 in 2007.

 

TECH

Creating work for, amongst others, NESTA, UNESCO & The British Council, Gaynor is a ‘CreaTech’ innovator. With her company she has recently won awards from Innovate UK & Audiences of The Future & been selected to travel to China in 2019 & SxSW in 2022 with companies including Tate Modern, The National Theatre, & Punchdrunk.

Be it an immersive performance at Contemporary Istanbul O’Flynn or a composition for L.S.O.’s St Lukes turning brainwaves to light, a holographic performance for Ambika P3 or dissolving her body to dust for Supernormal, O’Flynn consistently challenges artistic norms.

 

DIRECTION

Since Gaynor’s first job on Channel 4’s legendary, ‘The Tube’, where she made the first British hip hop film to directing the first films for MTV Europe, Gaynor has led crews from Hackney to the Himalayas, Soweto to Salford, Benin to Berlin, Easter Island to Edinburgh… directing a wide range of art films, documentaries, drama & pop promos for exhibition, TV & theatre.

Her work has featured on media including:

BBC, ITV, Sky, NBC, Canal Plus, CBS, Channel 4, Nat Geo …

With a major retrospective of her Himalayan art work, at The Habitat Gallery, Delhi in 2015

She is a B.F.I. Female Founder & selected for BAFTA connect.

From the 90’s in Shoreditch, 00’s in SW, to the 20’s in East London, warehouse & community are part of her art practice.

As an artist Gaynor received critical acclaim for her first & last album, Who Am I?.

As a composer she has worked with world musicians from Senegal, Mongolia, India, Turkey, Spain, Italy & composing work featured on 2013 Oscar winning Argo in 2013.

As a Director, artist, performer, composer, writer & technologist, sound, music & song are at the core of her trans disciplinary art practice.
